The Alba white truffle festival and wine experience is the ultimate epicurean trip away, a total blow-out gourmet extravaganza that will have your taste buds pleading for a rest.
Every year in Alba, a small town in Piedmont, northern Italy is engulfed by the pungent aroma of white truffles, when it plays host to the annual festival celebrating the Alba white truffle.
The festival happens every year from the 8th October to the 27th November, and gourmets from all over the world make the journey to epicurean heaven to sample truffles from dawn till dusk, savouring them alongside the powerful wines of the region. There is an enormous covered market dedicated to the event, and almost every shop front along the main streets of the town sells large amounts of white truffles from their shop window including white truffle accompaniments like truffle honey, truffle cheese, truffle salt, truffle chocolate, truffle pasta, herbs, everything you can think of. It’s a truffle lovers dream come true.
Almost every restaurant in town has a dedicated truffle degustazione menu, and upon arrival before you have even ordered food, truffle arrives in front of you as a taster for what is to come.
Red wine, as you might have expected, is also a hugely prominent part of this trip, and Alba, being in Piedmont is surrounded by hills adorned with grapes that produce the sumptuous Barbaresco and Barollo wines and other noteworthy wines such as Dolcetto, Barbera, and Nebbiolo. Wine tasting here is a must and we will book this for you in advance to avoid disappointment.
We recommend a three night stay including a gourmet truffle tasting menu, a trip to hunt for truffles, and a wine tasting experience. Return transportation can be arranged from Verbier with our VIP transfer service.
